Sea Survival & First Aid at the UKSA

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Monday & Tuesday of this week saw us complete our MCA qualifications in Sea Survival & First Aid at the United Kingdom Sailing Academy in Cowes.¬† The UKSA is recognised as the worlds leading sailing academy and has the reputation as the number one international maritime training organisation, which is why¬†we are both extremely pleased to have them sponsoring all our necessary courses for next years race.¬† The lecturers and facilities are superb and some extremely useful learning’s¬†came out of the two days,¬†hopefully most of which we will never have to use!

We will back at the UKSA for two weeks in February to complete our Short Range Radio Licence, Nav 1 & Ocean Yachtmaster certifications.

Another Successful Boat Show

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

The boat now named Flying Ferkins was exhibited at the Sail, Power & Watersports show at Earls Court last week with the director of Merseyside Ship Stores Mike Moss (our title sponsor!) coming down to see us both and take a look at our progress. It was a very different atmosphere to that of Southampton and it looked like the credit crunch had a part to play with how quiet the week was.  Although it was great on the publicity front and even more important to let friends, family and sponsors know how close we are to getting the boat completed!
